Elbit Systems, HAIFA, Israel: Elbit Systems Ltd. recently announced that its 30mm Unmanned Turret system has successfully completed extensive field trials. The tests were conducted in Finland at a firing range belonging to the Finish Armed Forces.
During testing, the system was assessed against static and moving targets, while the firing was conducted both from static and moving positions to ranges of 1 to 2.7 kilometers.
This marks the first time that an Unmanned Turret was tested on such a large scale and in diverse situations. Firing on the move against a moving target was conducted using the recently unveiled Automatic Target Tracker showing unprecedented results of hitting the target at more than 90% of all rounds fired.
Elbit Systems' Unmanned Turret is a dual axis stabilized system incorporating automatic guns up to 30mm, with both day and night separately stabilized sights. The system is also characterized by its low weight and silhouette.
The system is now under contract to several NATO countries.
