EADS, ULM, Germany: The TRML-3D radar system developed by EADS Defence & Security has provided proof of its high performance capability in network-centric operations during the NATO exercise “Elite 2007” in southern Germany.
Two TRML systems were used in this exercise as part of the Dutch air defence system FGBADS. The two TRML systems were integrated into the complete command chain from sensor to weapon system.
The evaluation of the course of the exercise now showed the high performance capability of the system when deployed on a mobile and networked basis. Integrating target data from the Link 16 tactical datalink at the same time proved how valuable interoperability is also in short to medium range air defence systems.
The system supplied to the Dutch armed forces six months ago worked perfectly stable and showed a high availability rate. Excellent detection properties were demonstrated even under the influence of various jammers.
TRML-3D is a mobile surveillance and target acquisition radar, which can be integrated efficiently via the command and control systems of the air defence system. So far, TRML – a joint product of the EADS Defence & Communications Systems und Defence Electronics Business Units – has been deployed in Lithuania and the Netherlands. Systems for Malaysia will be delivered in the near future.
EADS Defence & Security is involved in major radar programmes, such as the Eurofighter radar “Captor” and the air defence radar MEADS. It also supplies naval radar systems, for example for the German K130 corvettes and the coast guard vessels in the US Deepwater programme.
EADS Defence & Security (DS) is a systems solutions provider combining military air systems, missile systems, communications and intelligence systems, global security solutions as well as sensor and avionics systems into a single effective network. In 2006, DS – with its around 23,000 employees – achieved revenues of EUR 5.9 billion.
EADS is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. In 2006, EADS generated revenues of EUR 39.4 billion and employs a workforce of about 116,800.
