DRS Technologies, DRS Technologies announced today that it has received new orders to provide tactical data and informationlink and high-frequency (HF) data communications systems for U.S. and allied military applications. These products will be installed onvarious ships, submarines, aircraft and land-based platforms toprovide real-time information exchange among commanders and ground,sea and air forces to support integrated battle space operations.
The contracts, with a combined value of approximately $12 million,were awarded to DRS by the U.S. government, domestic and internationalprime contractors, and commercial customers. For these orders, DRSwill produce Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS)-based AN/USQ-125(V) andAN/USQ-130 Link-11, -16 and -22 Data Terminal Sets, Link-22 signalprocessor controllers, and other HF data communications equipment. Thecompany also will demonstrate Internet Protocol (IP) connectivityusing Link-16 Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS)terminals. Work for these contracts will be accomplished by thecompany's DRS Communications Company unit in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania.

DRS's systems enhance the ease of vertical integration with theembedment of data link encryption and address the need to provide thewarrior with IP connectivity on the battlefield. They are consideredthe next generation for secure voice and data communications andadvanced digital communications networks. The company's systems arebeing installed on various U.S. and international shipboard, aircraftand ground systems, including the U.S. Navy's P-3C Orion,Multi-Mission Aircraft and E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft, NATO'sNH-90 Helicopter, U.S. Navy surface ships, submarines and shorestations, and various surface and subsurface platforms for severalallied international navies. They are software-upgradeable for ease offuture enhancements to products already in the field.
