Indian Ministry of Defence,
The Expert Committee on Aircraft Accidents has deliberated on the issue of design deficiencies in respect of all aircraft. Based on the analysis of trends, the Committee has found that older technology aircraft including MIG variants, are more prone to failure. The new technology aircraft incorporates improved design features, which provide better air safety.
The Committee has suggested the need to formulate a strategy to manage the risk inherent in the old technology aircraft, monitoring of failure trends and strengthening of quality assurance an airworthiness certification procedure at the overhauling facilities of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
Necessary actions to improve flight safety standards are continuously undertaken for improving flight safety and to reduce aircraft accidents in the IAF.
