AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE, Czech Defense Minister Karel Kuhnl signed on June 9 a contract worth 23.6 billion koruna (835 million euros, $1.06 billion) for armored transporters with the Austrian company Steyr Daimler Puch, a unit of U.S. company General Dynamics, the Czech army announced.
The record Czech army contract for 199 vehicles, with the option for 35 more, has been attacked by the right-wing conservative Civic Democrats, who are trying to form a government following their victory in legislative elections which ended June 3.
