And contacts between military conglomerates and local enterprises in the area have to be organized for consultations over the issue for boosting the defense industry in the area.
The military industry in northeast is the cradle of sci-tech industry of national defense in China and has played an important role in China's northeast old industrial base. As a major pillar of manufacturing forces in the old industrial base, it covered a considerable batch of defense behemoths, varying from powerful capability in the manufacturing of jets, aero-engines, warships and submarines, and weapons, to the production of vessels for civil use, autos and accessories. It turns out one-third of the total ships of China and a quarter of the mini-autos as well as two fifth of engines for mini-auto.
The Commission of Science Technology Industry for National Defense held talks with the leaders from the three provinces in northeast China, namely Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning, over the issue of spurring up the military industry in this area. Special consultations have been conducted between the giants in the industry and the three provinces respectively on specific project planning, focusing on the roadmap and measures for cooperation, promotion and speeding up the restructuring and rejuvenating. The Commission of Science Technology Industry for National Defense has put forward a set of policies and measures on motivating system innovation, strengthening the infrastructure construction and talents pooling, stimulating the development of products for civil use, pushing forward the reforms of enterprises, and strengthening the support for technical transformation.
