China and South Korea have agreed to establish a bilateral mechanism to strengthen strategic defense cooperation and increase trust and understanding between the two nations, Xinhua reported.
The agreement was announced at a news conference during South Korean Defense Minister Kim Kuan Jin’s visit to China on Friday.
China and South Korea said they would oppose any actions that might jeopardize peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula.
They also agreed to step up cooperation in peacekeeping, disaster relief, humanitarian aid and anti-piracy operations, particularly place in the Gulf of Aden and the waters around Somalia.
