Deutsche Welle German Radio, The highest appellate court of Canada's Ontario province ruled Wednesday that German arms exporter Karlheinz Schreiber can be extradited to Germany.
The court rejected the 71-year-old's appeal against an extradition order issued by the Canadian justice ministry in October 2004. Schreiber is wanted in Germany on charges of fraud, bribery and tax evasion charges.
Schreiber, who fled to Canada from Germany in 1999, is seen as a central figure in a bribery scandal surrounding Germany's ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He is accused of paying off German politicians and managers during international business deals that involved the sale of tanks, helicopters and planes.
