EADS CASA, MADRID: On September 15, an EADS CASA C-295 aircraft from Wing 35 of the Spanish Air Force, based in Getafe, Madrid, performed a non-stop flight, without auxiliary fuel tanks, from the North American city of Sacramento to Honolulu.
It took the C-295 ten hours and 40 minutes to cover the almost 4,000 km between the two cities.
In Hawaii, the aircraft will attend the National Guard Association (NGAUS) General Conference, and the return flight is scheduled for September 20.
This flight is part of a four-week tour around the US, carried out by EADS CASA C-295 and CN-235 aircraft to show their capabilities as medium transport aircraft, which comply with the requirements established by the US Army for its FCA (Future Cargo Aircraft) program.
The tour started on September 11 and includes a visit to 16 North American States where presentations and familiarization flights are being performed. Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, one of the most prestigious companies in the world in system integration, and EADS CASA North America, have joined forces to participate together in this bid.
