Ananova , Researchers have found nearly two-thirds of Britons believe Israel poses the biggest threat to world peace.
North Korea is considered the second biggest threat – and America the third.
The European Commission survey asked the public in all 15 member states to looked at a list of countries and say which they considered potential threats to peace.
Israel was selected by a majority in almost all the EU member states, with 60% of Britons putting the country at the top of the list as a threat to peace.
Fifty-nine per cent in the UK thought North Korea posed a threat, while 55% said the USA was a cause for concern.
In the EU as a whole, 59% put Israel at the top of the list while Iran, North Korea and America were all selected by 53% as a threat.
The survey also listed Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and Russia as potential threats.
The survey even includes the EU – and in Britain 18% felt the 15-nation bloc posed a threat.
The Commission said it was making no comment today on the results of the survey.
Asked why the Palestinian Authority was not included on the list of countries that could be considered to pose a threat to world peace, a spokesman replied: “Because the Palestinian Authority is not a country.”
The survey questioned 7515 people between October 8 and October 16 this year.
