Manama: The Bahraini air force is conducting a joint exercise in missile defence with units from the US Central Command, Bahrain's official BNA news agency reported on Tuesday.
It said Bahraini Chief of Staff Major General Duaij bin Salman al-Khalifa inspected the site of the exercise in “air defence against ballistic missiles” and was briefed on the aims. But it did not reveal the venue or the duration.
The exercise is part of “a series of exercises conducted by the two friendly countries to boost military cooperation,” Khalifa said.
The small Gulf archipelago of Bahrain is a staunch ally of Washington and home to the US navy's Fifth Fleet.
