LOS ANGELES: NEX1 Future Co. Ltd. has selected BAE Systems to supply flight control computer kits for the Republic of Korea's T/A-50 aircraft. The $13.7 million contract calls for the production of T/A-50 flight control kits to be used by NEX1, plus spares and technical support.
“This contract award culminates a great deal of work by many capable people at both NEX1 and BAE Systems,” said Pilhoon Jung, director for Aerospace & Electronic Warfare Projects at NEX1 Future. “We are pleased to be moving forward into the production phase of this program.”
“The successful localization of the T-50 flight control computer production program represents an important milestone in industrial cooperation between BAE Systems and NEX1 Future,” said Andre Doumitt, business development director for BAE Systems in Los Angeles. “We are proud of the teamwork that got us here, and we're looking forward to new programs with NEX1 in Korea.”
The triple-redundant, 32-bit, digital fly-by-wire flight control has been flying on the Korean trainer aircraft since 2002. The technology has flown on multiple high-performance, military aircraft platforms since the late 1980s. Deliveries for the T/A-50 will begin in the fall of 2007 and continue through early 2010.
The T/A-50 Golden Eagle is a supersonic jet trainer and attack aircraft developed by Korea Aerospace Industries.
