, Avio has signed a contract with Polish Naval Shipyard Gdynia for the production and commissioning of the propulsion system that will power the first type 621 corvette of the Polish Navy called “Gawron”. Based on the LM2500 gas turbine, the new propulsion module will use auxiliary apparatus including the electronic control system designed by Avio.
The contract is approximately 10 million Euros.
Following the recent acquisition of a major contract for the engines intended for the Italian-French FREMM frigates, Avio is now consolidating its leadership in the field of naval propulsion and makes its debut on the Polish military market, which has great potential for growth. In addition to the supply of turbines, Avio looks forward to significant opportunities in terms of support during service.
