, An automatic ammunition supply vehicle for the K9 self-propelled howitzer has been deployed in artillery units of the Army, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) said on Monday (Nov. 20).
A rollout ceremony for the robotic vehicle, named the K10 Thunder Ammunition Resupply Vehicle (ARV), was held in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, the agency said in a statement.
The vehicle, co-developed by the state-run Agency for Defense Development (ADD) and Samsung Techwin, is the first of its kind. About 12.7 billion won ($12 million) was spent to develop the system.
The vehicle is capable of carrying 104 rounds of ammunition and automatically loading 12 rounds for firing, a DAPA official said.
