AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE, The Australian military announced June 19 it would almost quadruple its purchase of European helicopters in the next three years, spending two billion dollars ($1.5 billion U.S.) to update its aging Sea King and Black Hawk fleets.
Defense Minister Brendan Nelson said the government, which has already committed itself to buying 12 of the multi-role MRH 90 helicopters, would purchase an additional 34 of the Eurocopter model.
