US Army, The Army announced today the relocation of Company F, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) (SOAR) from Fort Campbell, Ky., to Fort Lewis, Wash., the activation of Company G at Fort Lewis, and the relocation of a company from overseas to Fort Campbell, effective July 16.
These actions allow increased training opportunities with other United States Army Special Operations Command units, 2/75th Ranger Regiment and 1st Special Forces Group. Additionally, the close proximity of Fort Lewis to McChord Air Force Base supports global world-wide mission requirements.
This action offers the ideal opportunity to collocate in a CONUS region to execute necessary unit environmental training (mountain, desert, water) in support of Unified Combatant Commanders. It also reduces demands on critical Army and US Special Operations Command budgetary dollars, flying hours, people and time.
These actions result in an increase of 225 military authorizations at Fort Lewis and an increase of 30 military authorizations at Fort Campbell.
