AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE, Afghanistan and Pakistan agreed Aug. 23 to consider joint patrols of their long border to control the movement of militants, an issue that has soured their relations.
Top military commanders of the neighbors met in the Afghan capital with their counterparts from the NATO and U.S.-led forces which are helping to stabilize Afghanistan in the face of an insurgency by the Islamist Taliban movement.
A focus of the meeting held routinely every few months was closer cooperation along the border including through joint patrols to halt militants, a spokesman for the US-led coalition told AFP.
