Indian Government News,
As dusk settled over Yelahanka Air Force base on Sunday evening bringing down curtains on the five-day Aero India 2009, excitement and thrill continued to resonate in the hearts and minds of the thousands who witnessed the grand air display on its last day.
If presence at the air show was any indicator of the enthusiasm for aviation in the country, the surging crowds during the air show proved that citizens of the metropolis, dubbed as the aviation-hub of India, remain as enthusiastic as ever, since its inaugural fare in 1996.
Over two lakh visitors attended the show. This includes fifty thousand business visitors alone, exceeding the projection at the start of the show. At the end of the mega event, defence industries are set to get a boost as 588 business-to-business (b2b) meetings took place under the umbrella of CII. These include 350 between Indian and foreign companies and the remaining between Indian business houses. The newly introduced software, enabling online registration and enhancing business propositions amongst companies worldwide, proved a huge success.
The air show was inaugurated by Indian Defence Minister, Shri AK Antony on Wednesday. 592 exhibitors from 25 countries participated in the show. Of these 303 were from overseas and 289 from home. The participating countries included UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Italy, Ireland, Israel, Malaysia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands and Ukraine.
The eighth edition of Aero India will be held from February 9-13, 2011 at Bengaluru.
