The Russian Defense Ministry will receive by the end of 2017 more than 200 BMP-3 infantry combat vehicles, Executive Director of the vehicle’s manufacturer Kurganmashzavod (subsidiary of Tractor Plants corporate group) Alexander Klyuzhev told TASS on Wednesday.
“In 2015, a long-term contract was concluded with the Russian Defense Ministry on supply of more than 200 BMP-3 infantry combat vehicles to the Russian army units in 2015-2017,” he said.
Previously, the first vice president and co-owner of Tractor Plants, Albert Bakov, told TASS that the contract with the Defense Ministry envisaged the supply of several hundred BMP-3 vehicles to the troops.
Concern Tractor Plants, or (CTP), is a leading Russian machine building company. CTP is the country’s largest tractor manufacturer, and one of the largest heavy mechanical engineering companies in the world.
The company produces machinery for the industrial, military, agricultural, municipal building and railway sectors, including tractors, harvesting machinery, components and spare parts.
CTP consolidates 14 industrial enterprises, three trading-service companies, a number of specialized Research and development offices and a Scientific Research Institute. The total number of employees is approximately 45,000 people. CTP operates in more than 40 countries worldwide.
The Kurganmashzavod joint-stock company is the biggest enterprise of the Kurgan region and one of the leaders of Russia’s military industrial complex. It is the only plant in the country manufacturing military assault vehicles (BMP) and its modifications.
