1. Check the Official WARNING Goes out to... and DT Hall of Shame - Ban List threads in Announcements forum to see warnings/bans and reasons why user was warned and banned.
2. Do not post one-liners or one line replies. We understand that sometimes a topic/subject may only require one line reply but for most of the time please put some effort in your replies and content so it adds value to the subject/topic being discussed. Posting just to increase your post count is highly discouraged, you will not get far with number of posts you have but quality of those posts.
3. Do not start "this vs that" topic threads. We encourage detailed comparison of weapon systems which looks at capabilities of weapon systems being compared but not in form of "weapon A vs. weapon B." Please be detailed and give reasons why such and such weapon system would be better for various conflict scenarios.
4. Do not use these forums for any commercial purpose - no solicitation of funds, no advertising, and no solicitation for goods or services.
5. Do not post anything illegal or injurious (including libelous, defamatory, or abusive statements, obscenity, profanity, or pornography).
6. Do not post irrelevant topics/replies. The DefenceTalk.com, its moderators, and members of this community reserve the right to delete posts we determine are irrelevant to the discussion in which they're posted.
7. Do not disrespect anyone on this board-whether you disagree with them or agree with them. It is suggested that you keep your cool and show restraint when discussing important defence matters.
8. Do not disrespect military personnel of other countries. DefenceTalk.com considers them dedicated professionals who put their lives on the line for their motherland.
9. Do not put more than 8 smilies/emoticons in your posts. If you do, your posts will be edited.
10. Do not link, in any post, to pages elsewhere on the Web that violate either these rules or their spirit.
11. Please provide your real name and an e-mail address where we may contact you, if necessary, during the registration process. You may choose any username you desire.
12. Do not post racial slurs, racist remarks against other people and countries of the world as we have participants from all over the world and we want to show highest form of respect for them as you would want them to show for your country.
13. Do not use multiple user names to conceal your identity.
14. It's your Defence Forum too! Let us or your fellow posters know if you feel things are getting off-topic or inappropriate. Thanks.
15. Do not start inflammatory threads with purpose of degrading/defaming another country, its leaders or its people.
16. Do not encourage or support terrorism/terrorist activity on our forums/website. Defencetalk.com condemns all forms of terrorism. Although we discuss war and military, it does not mean we promote war and use of military force. We believe in Peace and peaceful resolution to outstanding disputes around the world.
17. Do not post religious sermons in your replies. This is a Defence forum and only topics/issues related to Defence are allowed and discussed.
18. Proper punctuation is a must. Do not add excessive dots as a replacement for a comma. this....isn't really....fun..to read. also watch the spelling. [Its hrd 2 reed whn peple tipe poorly, its also trashy! This will make posts much nicer, neat and easy to read for fellow participants. This isn't done on most forums, its time you get use to it here.
19. Do not post LINK/URL to external FORUMS and message boards.
20. Do not use forums for "lobby" purposes. Defencetalk is an international website but that does not mean you can abuse its forums by posting false and anti-"country" information in order to degrade members of that country or its position in the world community. We will not allow that.
21. You must post source of your information/articles ( link, website, book, magazine, etc.).
22. You must have fun and let others do the same.
23. Do not post in ALL CAPS letters on the forums. Its considered rude!
24. DEFENSE PROFESSIONALS / Military Professionals - IF you are serving in the military, served in the military or work in field that is related to defense/military, please let us know. We will verify your claim and add you to our Defense Professionals group, identified in blue color username. In addition to the above rules, you are expected to keep this in consideration when interacting with other users on the forum:

    1. Please understand that we expect those who make it to the Defense Professionals Group should conduct themselves appropriately, and that is as professionals. They should be courteous and interact in a mature manner when engaging in discussions with other professionals as well as those who are not as experienced or in the defense/military industry.
    2. DefenceTalk really appreciates you spending your time on DefenceTalk and educating us with your knowledge and experience. We hope to see you more often and expect that you would share the site with your friends and co-workers so we can develop an even better professional online community for everyone to enjoy and benefit from.
    3. As a professional in your field as well as on the forum, you are expected to set an example for others (especially the youngsters), and to be able to have discussions, debates, difference of opinion and still maintain a level of respect and decency for others and those that you exchange your point of views with.

We sincerely believe that once you get into name calling and degrading the other person rather than laying out your opinion, you start to lose support for your argument and people do not take you seriously... which is not a good thing for any person, especially if you are a listed as a PROFESSIONAL. It diminishes the individual because of the negative way that you conduct your self on public forums and boards.
    5. So, please keep in mind that many professionals like yourself read your comments and they do comment to the mods/admins, even if you don't see their comments on the board. Be respectful of one another no matter how high the disagreement of opinions...

1. Your Conduct

A. The bulletin boards shall be used for lawful purposes only. No material shall be posted on or transmitted through the bulletin boards which violates or infringes the rights of others, which is unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable, which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, gives rise to civil liability or otherwise violates any law. No conduct shall be undertaken that, in our judgment, restricts or inhibits any other user from using or enjoying the bulletin boards. Advertising or commercial solicitation may be posted on or transmitted through the bulletin boards only with our express prior approval.

B. No material protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right shall be uploaded, posted or otherwise made available on the bulletin boards without the express permission of the owner of the copyright, trademark or other proprietary right. You shall be solely liable for any damages resulting from any infringement of copyrights, proprietary rights, or any other harm resulting from any uploading, posting or submission.

C. You hereby grant to us the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform and display any message posted in the bulletin boards (in whole or in part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media or technology now known or later developed.

D. You shall not (i) select or use a member name or e-mail address of another person with the intent to impersonate that person; (ii) use a user name or e-mail address subject to the rights of any person without authorization; (iii) use a member name in violation of the intellectual property rights of any person; or (iv) use a member name that we, in our sole discretion, deem offensive.

E. The foregoing provisions of this Section 1 are for our benefit and the benefit of our affiliates, third party content providers and licensors, and each shall have the right to assert and enforce such provisions directly on its own behalf.

2. Third Party Content.

We are a distributor of content supplied by third parties and users of the bulletin boards. Any opinions, advice, statements, services, offers, or other information or content expressed or made available by third parties, or any other user of the bulletin boards, are those of the respective author(s) or distributor(s) and not of us.

3. Disclaimer of Warranty; Limitation of Liability.

A. Each user expressly agrees that use of the bulletin boards is at his or her sole risk. we do not warrant that the bulletin board will be uninterrupted or error free; nor do we make any warranty as to the results that maybe obtained from use of the bulletin board or as to the accuracy, reliability or content of any information provided through the bulletin boards.

B. The disclaimer of liability contained in this section applies to any damages or injury caused by any failure of performance, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, computer virus, communication line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, alteration of, or use of record, whether for breach of contract, tortious behavior, negligence, or under any other cause of action. each user specifically acknowledges that we are not liable for the defamatory, offensive or illegal conduct of third parties, subscribers, members or other users of the bulletin boards and that the risk of injury from the foregoing rests entirely with each user.

C. In no event will we or any person or entity involved in creating, producing or distributing the online services be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of the use of or inability to use the bulletin boards or out of the breach of any warranty. each user hereby acknowledges that the provisions of this section 3 shall apply to all content on the bulletin boards.

D. We neither endorse nor are responsible for the accuracy or reliability of any opinion, advice or statement on the bulletin boards, nor for any offensive, defamatory or obscene posting made on the bulletin boards by anyone other than our employee spokespersons while acting in their official capacities. under no circumstances will we be liable for any loss or damage caused by reliance on information obtained through postings on the bulletin boards.

E. We do not endorse, warrant or guarantee any product or service offered by a third party through the bulletin boards and will not be a party to or in any way monitor any transaction between users and third party providers of products or services. as with the purchase of a product or service through any medium or in any environment, each user should use her or her best judgment and exercise caution where appropriate.

F. Each user specifically acknowledges that in no event will we, our, affiliates nor any of their respective employees or agents be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of (i) the use by such user of any browser owned or operated by any party and/or (ii) the downloading of any software owned or operated by any third party.

4. Monitoring.

We shall have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor the content of the bulletin boards to determine compliance with this Agreement and any other operating rules established by us. We shall have the right in our sole discretion to edit, refuse to post, or remove any material submitted to or posted on the bulletin boards. Without limiting the foregoing, we shall have the right to remove any material that we, in our sole discretion, find to be in violation of the provisions hereof, otherwise objectionable or stale. Notwithstanding this right, users shall remain solely responsible for the content of their messages. Each user acknowledges and agrees that neither we nor any third party content provider shall assume or have any liability for any action or inaction by us or any third party content provider with respect to any conduct, communication or posting on the bulletin boards.
